THE TiME FUND

The TIME FUND — the TRADITIONAL MUSICIANS’ EMERGENCY FUND — WILL AWARD MICRO-GRANTS TO MAKERS OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC WHO FIND THEMSELVES IN NEED.

The TIME FUND will SUPPORT MUSICIANS — SPECIFICALLY THOSE WHOSE WORK CELEBRATES TRADITIONAL FORMS — BY PROVIDING SMALL GRANTS ($250 OR LESS) TO MEET EMERGENCY NEEDS.

Traditional musicians who need a boost will apply to the All Around This World-sponsored TiME Fund to cover small immediate needs (whether or not they relate to their musical work). A panel of All Around This World’s musical community members — who value both traditional music and those who make it — will award grants on a monthly basis, depending on the availability of funds in the account. The TiME Fund intends to start making grants in 2025.

You — yes, YOU! — can jumpstart the Fund by participating in All Around This World’s Cultural Appreciation Project, which has ambitions to welcome 1000 cultural appreciation videos to All Around This World’s YouTube channel in 2024. All Around This World will donate 100% of the revenue Cultural Appreciation Project submissions earn through our YouTube channel to the Fund, in 2024 and forevermore. To participate in the Project, contributors hailing from any part of the world will answer the question “What do I love about my culture?” by submitting a short video that introduces an instrument, a dance, a food, a form of music, a holiday celebration or any tradition that makes them proud of their family, ancestral history or any element of their identity. ANYONE CAN PARTICIPATE — you don’t have be a trained performer. (Details here.) We will debut these videos on our YouTube channel over the weekend of October 18th to 20th, as part of our weekend-long fundraiser to seed the All Around This World Global Orchestra, then we’ll all promote promote promote! We’ll see how many views we can get and how much money we can generate for the Fund.
